Happy Easter!

Easter is such a happy and exciting time for the kids and family! At Mizzie, we know that this year is going to be a little different since we are all staying home. That's why we've found some fabulous, easy Easter treat recipes to help you and the kids stay busy and have fun together!

ย Bunny Tail Twists by It's Always Autumn

  • 2 x Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets
  • 2 TBSP of Butter
  • 2 TBSP of Brown Sugar
  • 1 TBSP of Cinnamon
  • White Buttercream for Tails

Steps To Make It:

1. Set puff pastry out for 45mins to thaw.

2. Melt butter, brush onto one pastry sheet, leaving approx. 1.5CM down the sides bare.

3. Mix sugar and cinnamon together, pour mixture evenly over buttered pastry.

4. Dab small amount of water on the bare pastry sides and place the second sheet of pastry on top of the first, press together gently.

5. Crimp edges of the pastry and cut into thin strips from one crimped edge to the other.

6. Take each strip and twist it twice to make a shape like you see above, with an open circle at the bottom and the two crimped ends pointing up. Make sure when you do this that the strip is on its side, so you can see the cinnamon sugar between the two layers of pastry. Place the twisted strips on a cookie sheet thatโ€™s been lined with parchment paper.

7. Bake at 200 Degrees Celsius or until pastry is puffed and golden. Cool for 20 mins and then add frosting tails at the centre of circle twist.

*Note: Homemade or Store-bought buttercream works great! If you'd like to make it at home, here's a great recipe for Buttercream!

Easter Rabbit's Sweet Carrots by Lil Luna

  • 1 Punnet of medium to large strawberries
  • 1 Bag of Orange Candy Melts

Steps To Make It:

1. Wash and gently dry strawberries and prepare a baking tray lined with baking paper.

2. Melt all candy melts ( reserving 15-20) as instructed on the bag (if you can't find orange melts, you can use white melts and colour the melted mixture using orange food dye)

3. Once the candy is completely melted, grab strawberries by their stems and dip them into melts, coating the strawberries. Place on the baking tray and into the fridge to set.

4. Once set, melt remaining candy melts and pour the chocolate into the un-cut side of a ziplock bag. Using a dishtowel, squeeze the chocolate to the other side (it will be hot if you just use your hands) and gently drizzle the chocolate from side to side over the strawberries on the parchment paper. Let set.

And there you have it! The perfect bunny and carrot treats to get your little one cooking in the kitchen this Easter!
